Many people have expressed continued dissatisfaction with the PBA and they want a change. The interest cards will be used to file for a Union election with the State of Florida Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC). Once an election has been established, you will then have the right to vote for IUPA/PLEA as your new Union!
The State of Florida Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC) mandates that we submit all original Interest Cards. The card can be digitally completed, however, we require an original signature on the card or else it will not be accepted by PERC.
YES, the Interest Cards are Confidential. Miami Dade County and the PBA will never have the right or the opportunity to know who has signed an Interest Card and who has not. Only the IUPA/PLEA and the Public Employees Relations Commission have access to this information.
In the event that the PBA complains to PERC and challengers the validity of the Interest Cards, PERC can use that information to verify the cards authenticity.
No, you do not have to be a member.
This is NOT a Membership Application. The Interest Cards are required by PERC to trigger an election and give you a choice in unions. If you wish to become a member, please click here and complete the application to complete a membership form in addition to completing an Interest Card.
We are NOT asking anyone to relinquish their membership to the PBA.
